Luigi Pulcini
Luigi Pulcini is an Italian Composer and Computer Engineer.
He studied Composition at “Santa Cecilia”Conservatory in Roma andIT Engineering at Marche Polytechnic University in Ancona, dissertating a thesis entitled “The Virtual Orchestra” about the new techniques of MIDI Programming and Digital Audio Sampling applied to Virtual Orchestration.
During the last ten years he studied with particular attention the film scoring process and his education culminated with the “Film Scoring” course at Berklee College of Music, Boston (Spring 2008) and the Master Class “Fotogrammi and Pentagrammi” (”Frames and Staves”) taught by the Academy Award-winning composer Nicola Piovani at “Santa Cecilia” Conservatory (Winter 2009), when Piovani recognized with astonishment and enthusiasm the professionalism of his score.
He distinguished himself in many occasions for his instinctive approach to music composition, with rational capabilities to arrange musical elements appropriately to picture, and for his deep understanding of technology with a high level of problem solving skills in the IT and digital world. As a composer, he is mixing the musical and technical experience: in fact, his eclectic music production spreads from intimistic piano solo pieces to powerful and epic orchestral scores, where the classical symphonic textures perfectly blend with electronic elements. As an engineer, his natural and versatile aptitude to quickly become proficient in any kind of software and technical device helped him to set up a project studio where the most advanced techniques are applied.
In 2008, he moved to Los Angeles where he established his career as a film music composer. There, he got involved in the film industry with the renowned composer Christopher Young, for whom he worked as an assistant and score coordinator for the movies “Love Happens” (Brandon Camp, featuring Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart) and “Drag me to Hell” (Sam Raimi). He also worked for the Sci-fi feature film “Eyeborgs” as an additional composer and orchestrator of Evan Evans. In 2010, the prestigious “Society of Composers and Lyricists” in Hollywood selected him as one of the eight young composers attending the annual “SCL Mentor Program“.
In November 2012, his score for the feature film “The Investigator” was awarded with a Global Music Award of Merit.
Luigi is now based in Los Angeles, where he founded Film Scoring Lab, a music production company, run together with Saverio Rapezzi andFabrizio Mancinelli.
